FAQ
Q: What exactly is this, a Demo or an Open Beta?
A: Both, this is a Demo version of Real World Racing with Open Beta
Online Multiplayer. It will help us asses online multiplayer and connectivity
issues, and serves as a preview of the final game for everybody to enjoy.
Q: Do I need to register for an account?
A: No, just download the demo and play away. No need for registration or
accounts. You may, however, sign up on our message boards and join the RWR's
community on Steam Greenlight.
Q: Is there something that will be in the full game notably missing in
the RWR Open Beta Demo?
A: Yes, the tutorial and the whole Career mode aren't available, as well
as the Online Championship mode. Graphics will likely undergo some more
refinement, and glitches will disappear.
Q: What is to be found in the RWR Open Beta Demo?
A: The RWR Open Beta Demo features:
- 3 Tracks from the final game, set in Rome, Berlin and London
- 6 Cars from the middle point class in the final game
- Single Player Arcade Mode
- Time Trial Mode
- Online Multiplayer up to 16 players
- Garage for car browsing and customization
Q: When will the Open Beta end?
A: The Open Beta status refers to Online multiplayer features of the RWR
Open Beta Demo. At some point near the final game release online play might be
no longer available. Please check the announcements or on RWR's Steam Greenlight page for updates. Single player features won't be locked
out.
Q: The game crashes to desktop as soon as it's launched, what is the cause?
A: Please make sure your video card is DirectX 9 and Shader Model 3.0, or RWR won't execute correctly. A sound card is also required to launch the game (integrated sound cards are fine), but please note that Windows will disable certain models of sound card when no speakers/headphones are connected.
Q: The Online multiplayer isn't working, what now?
A: First check if your internet connection is working correctly while playing or if your software firewall doesn't block RWR. Please allow at least 30 seconds in "Looking for players" before quitting, it may take a while to find and connect to other players. Moreover, there might be people online, but racing already, in which case you may have to wait until their current race has finished to join.
If the problem persists and you aren't able to connect to any game in a long time, check for announcements on http://www.realworldracing.com/ and on the message boards, as disconnections and downtimes may occur during the open beta from time to time.
Q: The Online multiplayer isn't working, what now?
A: First check if your internet connection is working correctly while
playing. If the problem persists, check for announcements and on the message boards as disconnections
and downtime may occur during the open beta from time to time.
Q: The game crashed while playing and keeps crashing under the same
conditions, what should I do?
A: Due to RWR's current Beta status you may experience crashes, albeit
rarely. If the crashes are consistent and you are able to reproduce the
conditions which lead to the crash, please consider posting on the message
boards, detailing the steps you take to get to the crash and adding as much
detail about your PC specs as possible, it will help us fix the nasty bug.
Q: The game runs very slowly, is there a way to enhance performance?
A: There is a lot of optimisation still undergoing in RWR's code, and
furthermore graphical settings will be added to the final version of the game
for you to tune. However the Open Beta Demo lacks fine tuning. It will be of
help to us knowing your PC specs if you are experiencing slow downs, please
consider posting them on the message boards.
Q: RWR is great, can't wait to get the full version, how can I support
you?
A: Thank you! The best way you can support us and improve the chance of
everybody playing RWR is to upvote us on Steam Greenlight and spread the word
with your friends, as being allowed to publish on Steam is vital for both us
and the players.
